Been Busy

Had an order for some bandsaw boxes or should I say sanding boxes but they are done and delivered.  Sold out of all the Toaster Tongs at the lst craft show and had an order for more that I have finished.   One of our newest items is a Country China Holder as you can see what they hold in the pictures.  Going to go to the shop now and make some more sawdust.

Desk Pen set and first casts

Finished up this desk set made of Honduran Rosewood this weekend for a customer.  The Pens are also made of Honduran Rosewood with the bands made from African Blackwood.

The Pen is a cast I made using PR and Pearlex violet powders with the blanks reverse painted white to hide the tubes.  Painting it this color made the violet lighter and the shimmer more accentuated which I wish would show in the pictures.  I also finished up 3 Pill Holder Keychains using antler.

Black Acacia Cigar

I picked up 3 of these blanks at a local store and Black Acacia was written on them. The turned pieces reminded me of a gidgee wood or a semi curly koa that I have but what ever they are the wood is nice and turns easily and finishes nicely. To try one I put it on a chrome cigar with a CA finish and I hope you all like it.

A Great Weekend

Well after trying to amputate my left index finger with the bandsaw and not being able to work for the week on my projects I finished up these this weekend.  8 Toothpick/Needle Holders, 2 Pill Holder Keychains, A 300 mag Desert Ironwood Bullet Pen and my favorite one an Amboyna Burl Jr Gent 2 in Black TI Rollerball.

Some carved work

LOML bought me a scrollsaw at a yard sale and I used it to make quite a few things and ended up one day cutting out blanks for spoons, after that it went to pens and I lost touch with the spoons I was making and last weekend I found some that I had cut 2 yrs ago and finshed them just to do something different for a change again.  I used my lathe to try and turn the handles on 2 of them and I think they came out good on the 2 long handle ones, the shorter one I used a belt sander and hand palm sander to smooth them out and to also round the backsides of the the 2 others and also the scrapers.  They were all soaked in mineral oil laying in the sun.  The bowls on the spoons were carved out using a dremel with the long attachment, not perfect but then if you want perfect by the mass produced ones from overseas I feel.

New Year New Work

Well this year the IAP bash is coming up in which I won twice last year hopefully again but you never know.  I am in a PITH (Pen in the Hat) drawing with an Australian Wood Working forum again.

I am going to be getting my large supply ready for the craft shows in the fall with a wide variety of items from Pens to other woodworks and some of Kris’s Afghans and other hand made items.  This should be an interesting year and hopefully a very productive year.

Show Results

Well had a ball talking to people and if I got paid for talking today I would be rich.  I did sell one pen a One piece Slimline made of Desert Ironwood so that was cool, had fun though.

Off to the show

Doing my first craft show today just a small one at the local woodworkers source.  Going to have fun and hopefully sell some of my things.  It is always nice to be able to sell something nice to someone that enjoys it.

Seam Rippers & Needle Holder Sets

Here are some finished Sets for you to enjoy the woods are labeled in the pictures.  Any comments are appreciated.  These sets can be made from practically any wood you like.

Some new Rippers

Here are pics of sopme of the new Seam Rippers in an almost finished state, I still have to attach the ripper and finish spraying a couple of coats on but these are a truly one of a kind piece of wood.  The 2 Cocobolo pieces actually came from 1 piece of turning stock end to end.  I am anxious to see what the Needle Holders will look like.
